Basics

When you first start in a technical diving program, you will notice several things.  First, in general, there is more equipment involved.  Part of the goal of technical diving is going deeper or staying longer which will require more gas and in many circumstances, decompression gas.  Second, you will find that technical divers operate under the idea that they should be self-sufficient.  This is not to say that they will be diving solo, but rather that should you become separated from the remainder of your team, you have the necessary back-up equipment and gasses to complete the dive safely.

We need to learn what this new equipment will be and how to carry it in a streamlined and efficient manner.  We offer several basic programs that will help you make the transition and make future training easier and more fun.

The Essentials – Advanced Buoyancy Control

The Essentials – Advanced Buoyancy Control course is designed to build on the configuration and buoyancy techniques you learned in your basic recreational scuba diving courses.  You will work with your instructor to reconfigure your diving kit to allow for a streamlined, efficient profile in the water.  With actual and mental rehearsal procedures, you will gain comfort in performing skills necessary for technical diving courses as well as advanced recreational programs.  Proper trim and positioning in the water will be stressed as will efficient kicking styles  This course is open to recreational as well as technical divers.

Prerequisites: Advanced Open Water

Twin-Set Diving

The course is really aimed to de-mystify the use of twin sets and give divers sound advice on the purchase, setup and use of the twin set which so often labels the user as a technical diver. Instructors will take students diving and introduce them to skills such as advanced buoyancy techniques and equipment streamlining. This is an excellent course for those who intend to take Technical courses in which twin sets are required, allowing a smooth transition from single cylinder use to the use of twin sets (or “doubles”).

Prerequisites: Advanced Open Water Diver
