Christian started diving in France when he was thirteen years old and he has not stopped since. Originally from Germany, he continued his diving education working as a Dive Master in Croatia for a summer and began teaching scuba in 2014.
In his other life, Christian manages product development teams in China, India, Germany and California. His company specializes in automation and business process operations for the automotive industry. As he will tell you, “I do business process engineering which is why I have a freaky combination of Math, Computer Science and Engineering background.” What he means is that he has degrees in Computer science, and Math with a PhD in Economics and Finance.
His job has given him the freedom to dive in some out of the way places and some very beautiful places in the world. He has dove all over Europe, the Adriatic Sea, the Philippines, Fiji, Thailand, and Vietnam. Now that he is in Houston, he is trying to go diving in the United States and the Caribbean. If you ask him his favorite place to dive, he has a very simple answer, “everywhere. There are wonderful places all over the world because people in every location have their favorite sites to visit.”
He is a passionate rebreather diver and with his wife Jenny, has been to some fun places and had some very unique experiences because of the rebreather. They both are avid technical divers (diving beyond the normal recreational limits). His math background comes out in this type of diving because he really likes to understand the theory and background behind the decompression dives and modeling.
After being in Houston only a short time (they moved here from Shanghais, China), Dive Mom recruited him to be a Starfish and Scuba Ranger Leader. He is a natural, and he loved introducing children to the snorkeling and diving world.
When he is not diving or teaching diving, Christian and Jenny love to host dinner parties. They have a guest book complete with photographs and comments about each of the parties they have hosted. But more than anything, diving and traveling remain his passions.
