

Gary is an adjunct member of the Oceanic Ventures, Inc. faculty and serves as the Technical Diving Instructor for the company. He is currently the President of the Professional Scuba Instructors International. He and son Nathaniel live in Michigan but spend a great deal of time in Florida and other locations teaching technical diving courses and running research projects for the United States Deep Diving Team, of which he is founder and National Director. He has a background in education with a masters degree in education and theology.
Gary understands the dive business having owned a retail dive center and teaching diving for over twenty years. He is a full time technical diving writer and diving instructor and serves on the IANTD Advisory board. He has been published in The Nitrox Diver Journal, Immersed and Deep Tech. He was an educational consultant to IANTD and NASDS and has authored a number of text books for both IANTD and NASDS. Some of his books are the Deep Air Student Manual & Workbook, EANx Altitude Diver Student Manual & Workbook, Dive Safe Advanced Open Water Textbook, Dive Safe Master Diver Textbook, Dive Safe Rescue Diver Textbook, Wreck Diving Manual, Marine Archeology Manual, and the IANTD Facility manual.

In addition to his technical writing background, Gary has an extensive diving background. He has been all over the world and has logged over 7,000 dives with over 4,000 cave dives, 1,000 wreck dives and 1,000 dives below 150 feet. He is also a consultant to hyperbaric specialists, diving retailers and educators.
He has developed several technical diving tables and concepts including the Theoretical Ocean Air Depth method for EANx use at altitude, the Surface Ratio Factor method of gas matching which is a cave and technical diving standard, the Dive Safe tables used by NASDS, the IANTD Gas Management Charts and the IANTD Altitude Dive Tables.
With all of his diving experience, Gary still loves to dive the cave systems of Northern Florida and he enjoys introducing others to the splendors that these caves offer those willing to explore them.
