From Oceanic Ventures, a big thank you to all of our clients who continue to support us! As Texas carefully “re-opens” its economy, we are working towards the “new normal” to enjoy diving and dive training while staying healthy. We know many of you having been sheltering at home and are ready to get back underwater for some bubble-blowing therapy!
One of our training mottos always has been that “a confident and comfortable diver is a safe and happy diver”. Our goal is for you to be safe, to be comfortable with our services and products, and to be confident in your dive shop. To that end, we have implemented policies to reduce the spread of coronavirus and other viruses and to follow State and Federal guidelines.
Your help following with these procedures is vital to our ability to take you diving. While we will do our best to enhance your safety through these additional efforts, please consider your personal well-being carefully and make choices that are best for yourself and your loved ones.
What to Expect at the Facility

Are you ready to purchase equipment, update your equipment, have it serviced, or to rent equipment? As always, we are here to help you. For your safety, we are limiting the number of people in the store at any one time. You can call to schedule an appointment or simply drop by.
Here is what you can expect in the store:
- When you arrive, please ring the bell or call and let us know you are here. We will either to bring your equipment to you curbside, to the backyard, or you may join us inside the facility. It is your choice. Just let us know.
- If we are at capacity in the store, we’ll let you know. You are welcome to relax (practicing social distancing) in our backyard event space or wait comfortably in your vehicle.
- Staff & Guests are asked to wear a face cover (mask, Buff, gaiter).
- We can bring things out to you in your car, to the backyard or you may come inside with a staff member.
- If you come in, we ask that you to please wash your hands in our restroom as soon as you come in before touching anything in the store.
- We ask that you help us maintain the appropriate social distancing while in the store.
- We know that trying on masks and other dive equipment is the best way to find a comfortable and correct fit. Every mask will be sanitized after it is tried on. The risk of exposure with neoprene is extremely low, but the staff will sanitize the suits after you try them on. The same thing applies to other equipment items in the store. Please do not put suits or equipment back on the racks or shelves if you have tried it on. We’ll take care of that after we sanitize the items.
- Rental equipment will be sanitized by trained staff members.
- Shared devices like credit card terminals, etc. will be disinfected after every use.
- Repaired equipment is disinfected during the service procedure but we will also have sanitizer on-hand for you to use on your equipment if you wish.
- If you prefer not to join us in the facility, we can load the equipment directly into your car (i.e. curbside service) or deliver it to you (i.e. shipping or delivery service). Just let us know when you call and we can take care of it for you.
- Cylinders can also be loaded directly in your vehicle. For EANx cylinders, we can perform the test for you while you watch and then you can initial the book without ever touching the analyzer of cylinder until you reach your dive destination.

Just a reminder, if you are not feeling well or experiencing any symptoms, you stay at home and not venture out to the dive store or go diving. If your symptoms are significant CV-19 symptoms, please call your doctor or seek other qualified medical advice before returning to diving.
What to Expect at the Pool
Each of our pool facilities have their own requirements so we are working within their guidelines. As we have for the past thirty years, Oceanic Ventures will continue to offer small classes with low instructor to student ratios. However you can expect:
- Staff & Guests are asked to wear a face cover (mask, buff, gaiter) when on the pool deck.
- We ask that you help us maintain the appropriate social distancing on the pool deck as well as on the surface of the water
- Sharing air drills will be simulated so that the each diver is breathing off of their air delivery system during class, and no regulators are shared.
- All rental equipment returned to the facility will be sanitized by trained staff.
Just a reminder, if you are not feeling well or experiencing any symptoms, you stay at home and not venture out to the dive store or go diving. If your symptoms are significant CV-19 symptoms, please call your doctor or seek other qualified medical advice before returning to diving.
We also encourage everyone to be a Responsible Diver — what does that mean?

What to Expect at the Lake
At the lake we will be outdoors which works to your advantage. However, we will still observe the guidlines recommended by the State. Specifically:

- Everyone needs to bring their own equipment mat or tarp for their equipment (family units may share). These should be set-up near your vehicle or at an appropriate distance from other divers (6 feet). This will help establish your “safe zone” You may also want to bring your own “pop-up” and chairs.
- Staff & Guests are asked to wear a face cover (mask, buff, gaiter) when on the shore except in your family “safe zone”
- We ask that you help us maintain the appropriate social distancing in the shelter, on the shore and on the surface of the water. Remember, if you have your mask on and your air delivery system in your mouth, you’re inhaling only breathing gas from your cylinder and none of the surrounding air. The cylinder air is filtered air, and our staff is using extra caution when filling cylinders.
- For students, sharing air drills will be simulated so that the individual is the only one breathing off of the air delivery system during class.
- We will have a sanitation station available for divers to use.
- The lake facilities have shared “Porta Johns;” The lake facilities are responsible for maintaining those, and we will not be sanitizing those units separately, so we ask you to take the necessary steps for your protection. Please bring your sanitizing wipes or feel free to use what we have in the sanitizing station.
- All rental equipment should be cleaned by the diver to remove all dirt and sand. When it is returned to the facility it will be sanitized by trained staff.
