The Scuba Ranger Program
Scuba Rangers is a pool based scuba club program for children ages 8-12. The program is a modular program designed to keep kids and families involved and growing. The basic program takes the young Ranger from swimming skills to scuba skills in the pool. Along the way they will learn goal setting, water safety, confidence along with underwater photography, buoyancy skills, navigation, and other skills. The Scuba Ranger Core Course is a four session program plus a graduation session. Students can repeat the program and progress toward a Master Ranger Level and/or can enroll in a JR. Open Water Diver Program.
How long does the Scuba Ranger program last?
The SCUBA Rangers program is 2 1/2 hours for 4 sessions + 1 graduation sessions and activities and DVD to work at home at their own pace.
What equipment is needed?
Each child needs to be fitted for mask, fins, and other equipment at Oceanic Ventures so they will be ready for class sessions. One time equipment fee which is theirs to keep.
Since it is important for health and safety reasons for divers to have their own equipment, especially children, Oceanic Ventures Family Friendly trade-in policy allows the Ranger to trade-up their equipment toward new sizes as they grow. The credit is based on use and can be traded 100% to other trade-in if available or a partial credit towards new equipment. In general, they grow out of fins and wetsuits!!!
How do I enroll?
Enrolling in the program is simple. Complete the medical form and come by the store to complete the Scuba Ranger folder and turn in the medical form. Also will need to have a parent come by the store to complete the SCUBA Ranger folder and turn in the attached medical release form.
Please note: All children must be water safe and able to have basic swimming skills, able swim across the pool and back to the steps on their own to participate in the program. We are happy to assist in evaluating their swim skill level if requested.
