Trimix

For divers wishing to explore the depths beyond the limits of recreational diving, Trimix is the clear choice. A breathing mixture of oxygen, helium and nitrogen, Trimix allows you to manage the risks of elevated oxygen concentrations and nitrogen narcosis, giving you a clear head when it really matters…

Our range of training programs will develop your skills and knowledge of Trimix diving in a safe, progressive and controlled manner under the direct supervision of your Instructor.

Building upon your existing knowledge and skills, you’ll discover the benefits of Trimix diving and learn to assess and manage the hazards associated with extended range diving. You’ll develop your dive skills to safely and competently plan and conduct dives utilising Helium-based breathing gases. From our Principles of Technical Diving with Advanced Recreational Trimix to Expedition-level, our Trimix training programs are at the cutting edge.

Principles of Technical Diving with Advanced Recreational Trimix

The foundation program for safe self sufficient diving. The Principles of Technical Diving with Advanced Recreational Trimix program covers the core skills from the technical diver training programs including the use of twin cylinders and decompression skills and procedures using bottom mixes of  Trimix with oxygen contents between 21% and 40% with a maximum pO2 of 1.5 bar, combined with a helium content to yeild an Equivelent Narcotic Depth (END) no greater than 80 fsw.  This program combines the Deep Diver and Advanced Recreational Diver Programs to prneude you with a strong base for continuing in your technical diving programs.

An essential component of this program is equipment configuration which is covered in a series of lectures and practical workshops. The aim being to construct a safe self-sufficient equipment configuration that is streamlined, accessible and promotes familiarity. Theory covered includes the END concept, oxygen physiology, oxygen tracking, the use of EANx as a decompression gas, gas switching techniques, partial pressures and best mixes.

This program qualifies divers to dive to 48 msw (160 fsw) and to perform decompression stops utilising EANx decompression mixtures with an oxygen concentration no greater than 1.5 pO2 for a maximum duration of 15 minutes

Prerequisites: Must be qualified as an Nitrox Diver with proof of a minimum of 30 logged dives or sufficient experience to satisfy the instructor that the student has the ability and knowledge to continue into this level of training Must be a minimum of 15 years of age with a parent or guardian authorisation, or a minimum of 18 years of age without guardian approval

Equipment Requirements: Deep Diver Student Kit and Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver Student Kit A single cylinder with dual outlets or a manifolded twinset A safety or decompression gas cylinder rigged as a stage cylinder. Gas cylinders must be oxygen clean and oxygen serviceable where needed

Normoxic Trimix Diver

The Normoxic Trimix Diver program is designed to train divers who wish to dive to depths between 130 and 200 fsw (39 and 60 msw), but do not wish to breathe air below 39 msw (130 fsw). Trimix affords a means of managing nitrogen narcosis by reducing the Equivelent Narcotic Depth (END) to a maximum of 36 msw (120 fsw).

The Normoxic Trimix Diver program includes academic lectures, confined water skills development and open water dives using air, EANx or Trimix using one gas switch. Gas switching computers can be used (and are recommended) but tables must be used as a backup.

This program qualifies divers to perform Trimix dives to a maximum depth of 200 fsw (60 msw) using custom bottom mixes with a minimum oxygen content of 19% and a maximum of two decompression cylinders.

Prerequisites: Must be qualified as an IANTD Advanced EANx Diver or IANTD Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver Must prneude proof of a minimum of 100 logged dives, of which at least 30 were deeper than 27 msw (90 fsw) or sufficient experience doing technical dives to satisfy the instructor that the student has the ability and knowledge to continue into this level of training Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

Equipment Requirements: Normoxic Trimix Diver Student Kit and fulfill general equipment requirements for technical diver programs

Trimix Diver

This program is designed for those individuals already involved in deep diving activities but wish to develop the skills, ability and knowledge to enable safe diving in the trimix depth range. It includes extensive dive planning workshops covering all bailout scenarios, run time management and choice of gases. The diver’s skills are developed to the highest level to promote self sufficiency and safety whilst maintaining the ability to operate within a team.

The program includes academic lectures, confined water skills development and open water dives. Gas switching computers can be used (and are recommended) but tables must be used as a backup.

The knowledge and skills taught in the Trimix Diver program qualify divers to perform Trimix Dives to a maximum depth of 333 fsw (100 msw).

Prerequisites: Must be qualified as an IANTD Technical Diver, Technical Cave Diver, Technical Wreck Diver, Normoxic Trimix Diver or equivalent Must prneude proof of a minimum of 200 logged dives, of which at least 25 were to depths between 42 and 60 msw (140 and 200 fsw) or sufficient experience doing technical dives to satisfy the instructor that the student has the ability and knowledge to continue into this level of training Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

Equipment Requirements: Trimix Diver Student Kit nad fulfill general equipment requirements for technical diver programs

Expedition Trimix

This program is designed to prneude training for divers already involved in deep diving activities to more safely conduct exploration dives requiring extended decompression profiles and helium-based gas mixtures as well as information on remote operations and expedition preparations. The Expedition Trimix Diver program requires the diver to be self-sufficient, reliant and capable of operating within a team. The knowledge and skills taught in this program equip the diver to perform trimix dives to a maximum depth of 120 msw (400 fsw) with the use of multiple stages and the use of a surface and inwater support team.

Prerequisites: Must be qualified as an IANTD Trimix Diver or equivelent Must prneude proof of a minimum of 300 logged dives, of which at least 100 were Trimix dives or sufficient experience doing technical dives to satisfy the instructor that the student has the ability and knowledge to continue into this level of training Must be a minimum of 21 years of age

Equipment Requirements: IANTD Expedition Trimix Diver Student Kit Must own or have direct access to Trimix OC equipment including at least 3 decompression cylinders

What People Say…

Kelley Jones Minor

Appreciate the personal service and care at Oceanic Ventures

Ann really took her time helping to fit my niece with her first mask and fins. We so appreciated the personal attention, and we loved that she was open to talking about dive certification, but she wasn't giving us the hard sell. We live out toward Tomball but would happily drive back here vs. going to a nearby competitor simply for the service.

Oceanic Ventures is the best dive shop

Best Dive Shop I've ever used. I've been diving since 1984 and you will not find more talented staff anywhere else. They are small, family owned and service oriented #1. You get personal service from start to finish from people who actually dive all over the world. I've taken simple to advance courses from them and the trainers are excellent. Dive trips are well organized to unique locations and always fun. This type of depth of knowledge is very difficult to find, especially in Texas.

Oceanic Ventures is a great dive shop

Great dive shop with wonderful instructors to share your passion for the underwater world. They have fun for the whole family from kids diving programs through advanced diving. Checkout their scuba diving vacation to some of the best diving in the world. I really like the Diva dive vacation to Grand Cayman.

Oceanic Ventures is the best

I have been to many scuba stores in Houston and this one is by far the best. Most scuba stores have a couple of salespersons who will show you one of the 40 types of fins and 10 types of regulators that they have in stock and immediately try to sell these to you. Most of these same stores really cater only to people just getting certified. Oceanic ventures has a very different business model. While they do have an inventory, it is not as large as other stores. The difference is that they really try to foster a dive community. It works. People come back again and again. Further, unlike many stores, they teach just about everything possible. If you want to teach your child how to snorkel, they teach that. If you want to learn how to dive 350 feet down on a rebreather using helium gas mixes and several additional scuba tanks, they teach that. They teach everything in between. Not many stores do that. Additionally, the staff is very knowledgeable about all the equipment they sell. You will never get an "I don't know about that" type of answer.
