Diving Rebreather Event Planned for Houston

Press Release

Oceanic Ventures and InnerSpace Systems are hosting a weekend of rebreather events March 29 – April 3, 2012. The program will include lectures, pool demos of a new recreational rebreather, the Pathfinder, and a benefit dinner with keynote speaker Leon Scamahorn, CEO and founder of InnerSpace Systems.

The rebreather demonstrations are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The benefit dinner will include a raffle, door prizes, and photo program of rebreather diving around the world. All proceeds of the event will benefit Oceanic Ventures Foundation. The focus of the event will be to help the Bonaventure Boys’ home in Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman has been the leading destination for rebreather divers with the first rebreather only event, Zero Gravity in 2000 and was later replaced by Inner Space with Dive Tech, which is celebrating its ninth year in 2012.

Eric Keibler, Managing Director and Director of Education for Oceanic Ventures says, ‘rebreathers are the latest trend in diving enabling divers to discover the underwater world in relative silence without disturbing the fish. This allows you to get closer to the fish and other creatures. Photographers find them to be a wonderful tool and a enjoyable way to go diving.” According to Ann Keibler, President of Oceanic Ventures, “this is a fun event that will allow divers to experience what it is like to dive silently underwater with no bubbles while helping out children.”

The Bonaventure Boys’ Home is a not for profit government funded Foundation that is a part of The CAYS Foundation (Children and Youth Services) in Grand Cayman. The Boy’s Home serves at risks boys and families that need help to achieve their full potential. Jennifer Leach-Tippetts, Bonaventure Boys’ Home Facility Manager commented “We appreciate donations to help fund extra programmes and supplies for our resident and we greatly appreciate any donations Oceanic Venture Foundation is able to give to The Bonaventure Boys’ Home. The monies raised will be used to purchase recreational equipment, resident outings, summer camp fees, clothing and shoes, rewards for incentive programmes and/or bedroom furniture for parents’ homes in preparation for transition.

Eric and his wife Ann have developed Oceanic Ventures into the premiere dive operation in Texas. As the first full service IANTD Technical Training Facility in Texas, Oceanic Ventures was the first Nitrox training facility, and the first Nitrox and Trimix blending facility in the area. Oceanic Ventures remains the only IANTD Platinum Technical Training Facility in Texas and was awarded a Diamond Facility award from IANTD. It is also an SSI Platinum Instructor Training Facility, a SDI/TDI Professional Development Center, and a PSAI Training Facility. Oceanic Ventures is the only facility in the area with rebreather instructors on staff. The Company’s staff remains the most qualified instructional staff in the industry with most of its instructors and dive coordinators having advanced certifications in Rebreather Diving, Cavern, Cave, Wreck, Technical and Trimix Training.

InnerSpace Systems Corp. (ISC) is a United States based company located in Centralia Washington. It was founded in 1999 and is known internationally as a top competitor in the manufacturing and development is of highly innovative customized closed circuit rebreathing systems. ISC is comprised of dedicated real world experienced engineering and support personnel. InnerSpace Systems Corporation is able to conduct rapid engineering and prototyping of new ideas and quickly turn them into a final product that can meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements. Santa is Coming To Visit On Saturday, November 12, 2011

Many people may not realize that Santa Claus is a scuba diver and on 12 November 2011 from 9:00 to 12:00 he will be posing for photos underwater at the West University Place Recreation Center Pool located at 4210 Bellaire Blvd in West University Place (Houston).  There is a $10.00 fee for the photos if you call in advance or $35.00 on the day of the event.  If you are interested, call Ann at the store (713.523.3483) or email her and tell her you would like to participate.
This will be Santa’s fifth visit to the City of West University Place and Houston to pose with adults and children in the swimming pool.  The photos are fun and are a great way to start the holiday season.  Imagine sending Grandma a photo of the kids underwater with Santa Claus.
We will also be doing an interview with Santa to learn more about his diving plans for 2012.  Keep looking at the blog for more diving stories from the man himself.
This will be Santa’s only underwater visit in the area because he need to return to the North Pole to finish getting ready for Christmas so don’t miss this Christmas Card moment!

What I really want for Christmas is…

What I really would like to have is...

Your friends and family know what you like to do in your spare time but do they know what you would like to have or need to complete your ideal scuba kit?  Why not tell them what you really want?  You can complete a Holiday Wish list and let them know what you would like to have or really need.  These wish lists take some of the guessing out of the gift giving process and keep you from getting 3 different dive knifes to add to the one you already have.

At Oceanic Ventures, we have drafted a sample list for you to begin working with.  you can download a copy of it here.  Dive Mom has even volunteered to contact you family and let them know you really want scuba equipment and trips for the holidays and she is here to help them.  Really it is that simple!  Dive Mom has even come up with an incentive program to make it worth while for you…

Turn in your list in  with at least two people she can contact, and you will be entered into a drawing for a $50.00 Gift Card.  At least 2 will be given away during the sale running 10-12 November 2011.

Remember, if you get 3 old j-tube snorkels it is your own fault.  You really do want to complete your own scuba wish list!

100 Scuba Dives…Dive Mom Needs Help!

Dive Mom Ready to Go
Dive Mom Ready to Go!

“For the first time I can remember, I don’t have my 100 dives by November 1; I need your help to get there before December 1!”
Ann Keibler will be venturing up to the DUI Dog Rally and Demo Days in Terrell Texas on November 19-20 and she would like for you to join her. So that you both have something to do while swimming around the lake, she will be doing dry suit open water dives and dry suit demos. To give you some incentive to show up, she has come up with the following specials:

  • Take a Dry Suit course, reg $225, for only $125 and she will pay for your DUI entry ticket for Saturday and Sunday. By doing your open water here, you also save the dry suit rental charge ($100 for the weekend).
  • Take your Nitrox course, reg $225, for only $125 and she will pay for your DUI entry ticket for the day and include the Nitrox for your dives!

Both courses include the educational materials and the classroom portion is a home study program. You should turn in your homework and take the test before you leave. She will be staying late Wednesday November 9, so you can get the test over with early. You can take the test at the lake, but who wants to skip the fun and take a test so doing it early is really better.
Of course if you are already certified as a dry suit diver, you can still come up and go diving. Remember, she needs a lot of dives and she doesn’t think any one person will want to do that many in a day. As such, she needs multiple buddies and lots of moral support.
DUI’s Dog Rally and Demo Days is a really cool event where you can try almost every suit DUI makes, almost every style of undergarment, get lunch and a hat all for $10.00 (when purchased from Oceanic Ventures, in advance). And, if you are already a DOG (DUI Owners Group) and you bring a friend to the event, you will get a special gift.

Please send Dive Mom and email and tell her you will help her reach her goal.

She would like to know who is going to attend by Friday.
